Megan and Andrew Bock

The Wedding of Andrew and Megan – 17 October 2008

How We Met:

Andrew and I are high school sweethearts, and started dating when we were 14. We were so happy that 10 years later we said ‘I do’ to each other.

The Proposal:

While traveling around America, Andrew proposed in Las Vegas. It was very romantic, outside the Bellagio Hotel. It was a huge surprise, and I burst into tears. Andrew was very nervous carrying around the ring, and had it hidden in his shoe for the entire night until he proposed!

Our Suppliers:

Our favourite suppliers were:

1. Ian Wilkinson Photography – we loved the candid shots he got. Looking back over the wedding photos we have so many of us laughing and smiling. He really captured the mood of our day.
2. Wedding Essence – Marisa Cubito put together our invitations and also did the flowers. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous, and she gave us great suggestions and ideas.
3. Eves Restaurant – the staff at Eves were friendly, helpful and bent over backwards to get everything perfect. I would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone!
4. Lisa Blackmore – Lisa was an excellent celebrant. She was so helpful with preparing our ceremony details and put us both at ease straight away.
5. Julie Whitehead Cakes – so delicious! Julie’s cakes not only look fantastic, but taste fantastic.

Our Wedding:

Andrew and I wanted a wedding where we could have all our loved ones present, and were we could relax and have fun. Our motto was ‘no stress!’

We picked some items we would save on – my dress, decorations and ceremony extras. We picked some items to splurge on – our cake, our photographer and a chocolate fountain.

We made sure the day was about what mattered most – each other, our family and our friends. We both spent the day getting ready with family and friends. I wore my mother’s wedding veil, which my grandmother made. I had both of them with me when I was getting ready, and I was so pleased I could have them there.

Both our brothers live overseas, and we were so happy that they could travel back for our wedding. Our best man traveled from America, and our groomsman traveled from WA, so we had a lot of guests flying in!

Our colour theme was black, white and pink – although Andrew refused to wear a pink tie! We had the groomsmen in black and white, our page boys in white with khaki pants, the bridesmaids in black and pink and our flower girl in pink.

Our maid of honor, Briony, has been my best friend for 19 years – and has known Andrew and I for our entire relationship. I was so glad to have her by my side. My bridesmaids chose their own dresses (to continue our ‘no stress’ motto), and my Mum tied a pink ribbon under the bust to match our theme. Our flower girl and page boys were our four nephews and nieces. Our sister-in-law Tanya organised our flower girl’s dress – she wore a gorgeous pink dress with a matching jacket with a black ribbon – so the bridesmaids wore black dresses with pink and our flower girl wore a pink dress with black.

Our day was filled with love and laughter – I couldn’t stop smiling for the entire day! I was just so happy to be surrounded by our family and friends marrying the man I’ve loved for so long.
