Natural and Edible Wedding Favours

Take a moment to think of what autumn means to you... Does it evoke images of fallen multi coloured maple leaves, warm apple tea, orange, brown and bronze hues, the smell of burning cinnamon, honey pots and other wonderful warm feelings? Why not incorporate the classic nature of autumn into your wedding favours?

Honey pots are gorgeous, natural and edible wedding favours and they fit the theme of autumn to a tee! Find a local honey farm and collect various little pots to fill as wedding favours. Tie them with some gorgeous ribbon and make them features on your table setting. Your guests will love to take home a wedding favour they can actually use and enjoy and they will look just lovely! What could be more warming than a cinnamon donut and a cup of tea or coffee? Why not have a local baker make up several dozen cinnamon donuts for you as your wedding favour? You can wrap them beautifully and I can promise you that your guests will love them!

Chocolate chip cookies are an all time favourite and an absolute classic. If you have a great family recipe – or even any recipe you’ve come across, why not bake cookies yourself and use them as favours? A single large cookie or a stack of smaller ones tied with ribbon makes for a beautiful (and yummy!) wedding favour.

Jam pots are a great idea as they can be used for months after your wedding. They look super cute in little jars covered in cloth (and of course you can theme the cloth to fir with your colour palette!) Go for a simple all time favourite like plumb or strawberry jam – you can even make it yourself a few weeks before the wedding. Candy apples are making a huge come back and as they should! They are easy to make, look gorgeous and taste even better. There are so many variations on this classic sweet so you are not limited in what you do with them. You can go with the classic toffee coating, caramel fudge, various chocolates or even a jam glaze. You can even decorate them as little brides and grooms, with gorgeous filigree, berries, sloshed with nuts, dripped in fudge – the possibilities are endless.

Wrap the candy apples and tie off around the stick with a gorgeous ribbon. These make for great detail on your wedding table too. If you’re having a candy bar, you can always use theme in there too – make a giant platter and decorate with seasonal berries, blossoms and autumn leaves.

If you want a less edible, more natural approach why not pack up some seeds for your guests to plant in their gardens after the wedding... Make sure the seeds reflect you and your partner – perhaps a favourite flower or fruit? You could even use seeds from the same flowers you’re having at your wedding.

Following on with that idea, you would even give your guests sprouted seedlings in cute little pots. This is a great environmentally friendly wedding favour using what nature has already given us. Rather than buy seedlings for double the price, think about planting them all yourself a few months before the wedding. Good luck with your natural and/or edible wedding favours and check out our inspiration board below for more ideas!
