Thanks Jen. I actually didn't want a cake as we had dessert included in the packages but I got talked into it. Then I only agreed to a single tier cake and ended up getting two tiers...Then I didn't want it cut at the wedding and have it afterwards with friends and family and almost got talked into having it served, but my dad stood up for me... dad rules....
I don't want to sound ungrateful, it was a beautiful thing to do for us, but there was some tension and pressure around it. Plus, MIL wants to put up the photo of DH and I cutting it which is so far from being the nicest photo of us, she reckons that its because of the roses and the love that they mean, but it's really because she made the cake. I refuse to give the negative to her...
Oh, that was b*tchy wasnt' it.... Sorry!
It was made with lots of love and it was divine to eat........

Not *****y at all!! I can imagine she would be a bit like my family, does she contantly mention it and expects you to thank her all the time? My family is a bit like that, you constantly feel like you owe them something I guess.
It is ashame that you got a cake that you didn't want but even worse got a style that you didn't want as well!
People forget about who's day it is and that sometimes you don't need to follow what is concidered "tradition".
All the same it is beautiful
