Mine were smashed, yes. When we were walking out to the taxi, DH had them on top of the suitcase, and I said "Be careful, I dont want them to get broken" and when he pulled the case down the gutter, they slipped off... I was so upset.. I was bawling, silently in the back seat of the taxi.

DISCLAIMER: This is NOT legal advice, so please don't consider it that way please....
(ok, now that i've said that....) It's been a while since I studied commercial law, but from recollection if you didn't have to sign a disclaimer or if there were no signs in the engraving place that stipulated no responsibility will be taken for the damaging of goods, then i think you have a case. Like, when you do your dry cleaning, usually on the back of the docket there will be something to this effect (so they are not responsible for any damage caused to the clothing) or sometimes they have a big sign in the dry cleaning place that will say it. I imagine the same rule would apply for engraving places. I think you should take it back and tell him to replace it. |

I'm serious!
I did this at the bank once, years ago, when I finally cracked one after my home loan still hadn't been organised and settlement had been delayed 10 days. I told them I wanted to speak to the manager and that I would not be satisfied until I had. So they bring me the manager - and I told him I refused to leave until this was sorted out, took a seat, and waited. Half an hour later all was done! |
