I was the one that did the proposing when DH and I got engaged. We'd been out to dinner, and beforehand I had baked a banana cake. In the icing I wrote "Will you Marry me". I had also bought two silver bands that I placed on top of the cake. I had to place the cake in fromt of him, as I couldn't get a worrd out without bursting into tears. Of course he said 'yes'.

We went on a short 2 night stay down the Great Ocean Road and despite getting there late and threatening to rain, h2b insisted on going for a walk along the beach (soooooo not him).

It was getting dark and we were picking up shells and showing them to each other. When we got to the rock pools, he told me to stand on the rock in front of him so I was taller than him (he's 6'4), and said what about this shell, and handed me the ring.

He actually had a bit of a speech prepared as I remember him using the word honour, but honestly I can't remember the rest! It was very sweet and typically him, but I gave him credit for making me stand on the rock as he was in a car accident the year before and couldn't get down on his knee.

Our story isnt big or romantic lol.
We had been together 8 years and he didnt feel the need for the paper to prove our commitment for most of those years.
However time and kids helped to change his mind.
Our kids started to ask me when was daddy going to marry mummy so I just told them to ask dad.
So one night as he was stoking the fire, the kids asked him again.
So he gathered the kids around and simply asked me if I would marry him. I said when he was serious than I would lol. He told me he was being serious so I said yes.

Couple of months later I got my ring and he half got down on one knee and popped the question again. I said yes, grabbed the ring...and dropped it lol.

So there is our proposal story.

My FH picked me up after work one friday and took me to one of our fave resaurants Fairy Mountain in Olinda, he had already ordered take away, and then drove us up to Sky High (in the Mt Dandenongs) we sat in the car and had dinner and looked at the lights, he also had our pet staffy, tigs in the car, and he was like we should take tigs for a walk, so we walked up to this english rose garden and we were walking around and he sorta slowed down and i didnt really notice and he was like babe and i turned around and he was down on one knee.. It was super cute..

6th March 2009, it was the same day that Melbourne had an earthquake... and now his little claim is that he shook my world! lol...

Oh Gawd... I think I win for the most boring story!!

We were having the whole "do you wanna have another baby" discussion (we have 3 sons already) when Mick says "what would you prefer? a baby or a wedding?"

NOT the type of story I can tell our 3yr old when he gets older.....!!

DH asked me when we had been together for 6 weeks and I said I will if you ask me in again in 6 months and do it properly. Neither of us expected anyone to take us seriously after 6 weeks.

We had a beautiful ring made and started to make some early arrangements like number of guests etc so we could work out a savings plan to pay for it all.

My birthday happened to be our 6 month anniversary and we spent the day at the Royal show with Emily & my nephew. We dropped them at Grandma's to be babysat (he had asked my Mum to babysit that night and told her why she was so excited) We had a spa suite at the grand chancellor hotel, we got a bottle of bubbly and a dozen oyesters on arrival which we had in the spa.

We went to the Radisson Playford for dinner and we had the window seat. He got down on one knee during dessert and told me why he wants me to be wife and I cried my eyes out (so did he) even though we both knew he was going to do it, he was still super nervous and it was very special. We got a free glass of moet and a plate with hand made chocolates that said Congratulations on it, all the people around us were congratulating us and an old lady told me he was a keeper because he had made the effort to 'do it properly' I just smiled but thought to myself "Yeah lady, he tried to get away with doing in bed after a shag 6 months ago, I told him to do it like this" LOL

Well firstly I just knew that it was coming. We had been talking about it for ages and ages.
We went to a jewler and were having a look around and I commented that I liked a particular ring.
FH is not very sublte and in no time at all I worked out what he had planned as he kept asking me questions.

On our 3 year anniversary we were in Melbourne on holiday and went to the top of the Realto towers and FH asked there. It was a lovely night and we had a great view. It was so sweet of him.
We then went to Nobu for dinner and had an amazing Japanese feist!

The only thing is that I kind of regret saying that I liked the ring that he ended up buying. It is nice...but not really what I had in mind for an E-ring!

What a lovely mix of stories! xxx

Ours was sort of a mix in itself. We knew pretty much from the start of our relationship that we'd be spending our lives together, and I said that if that was the case then I wanted a wedding day! We talked about wedding plans more and more until eventually were in full swing of planning a wedding... we bought a 'promise ring' on holiday in Melbourne but hubby wanted to propose overseas so I kept planning while I waited - including booking the reception & ceremony venues as I was scared of losing our chosen date!

In the end he didn't get the chance to propose where he wanted as we couldn't afford the trip to Africa we'd planned (he had planned to propose at Victoria Falls, but we have yet to go there). But it was still very romantic. He finally found out he'd got the job he'd been going through months of applications for... he picked me up from work with bubbly to celebrate. He took me across to Kings Park (outside the reception venue that we'd already booked) and pulled out a bottle of Moet... I said "we really are celebrating!" and he said "there's something else..." bent down on one knee, and said "anne, my love, will you marry me?" I was completely surprised and burst into tears as I said "Yes of course!"

He gave me a plain silver ring to wear for a bit and then we chose a simple diamond ring together a few weeks later... after a holiday we'd already booked in the south-west. (I thought he might propose on holiday, but he got in early!)

I nearly proposed many times but I'm glad I waited and let him do it in the end. :)

Everyone's stories sound great.
It was in January near my 22nd Birthday, we had been together for just over 3 years, and where we live, Mackay, it is very wet that time of the year. FH had secretly organised a night away. He woke me up on Saturday morning about 5am, it was pouring with rain and the sky was sooo black, and I was told to pack my bags as we were heading out. I had NO idea what was going on. We got in the car and started driving. As we were driving FH turns to me and says we're heading up to Airlie Beach for the night. I was so excited about this, athat he could plan something without me knowing!! As we got into Airlie FH turns to me and says we better hurry up otherwise we won't make the Ferry, He then went on to say that we were heading over to Hamilton Island (FH had taken me here for my 19th Birthday) As soon as I found out we were going here, I kinda put 2 and 2 together

We got over there and the rain had kinda cleared up so we went snorkelling and spent all day in the pools. We took some drinks back to the room and I foiled FH's first attempt at proposing. He was so insistent on going up to the lookout for a few drinks at sunset but I kept saying that I didn't feel like it and that I wanted to stay in the room. We got ready for dinner and on the way to dinner, in our little golf buggy, FH pulled up outside the little chapel they have on Hamilton Island as he said he needed to take a leak... We got out of the buggy and walked around and as we were both standing outside the chapel, FH turned around to face me down on one knee and asked me to marry him, I cried and said YES of course and then we went out for dinner and we both couldn't stop looking at my ring all night, we had to turn the waiter away a few times that kept asking if we were ready to place an order, we hadn't even looked at the menus LOL!!!

A bit long winded I know, but I have to tell the whole story
Love to hear some more stories !!!
