Engagement Party coming up...

Hi Ladies :D

Well we have finally organised invites and a venue for our engagement party. Mum and I have delegated the jobs out so its not so hard for us. We are having a fairly relaxed engagement party. We have hired our church hall as we know they have a kitchen and bbq and plates, cups, urns etc.

I still have to organise all of the music and mum wants me to do a powerpoint presentation full of our photos from when we were kids up til today. So there is lots of work to do and only a month to do it all.

I am a little unsure of what speeches need to be done and anything else that needs to happen on the night. What did everyone else do?

It's all so exciting but there is so much to think about...

i dont have a clue of what formalities are at an engagement party.

I don't think a speech as such is needed but maybe just 1 from you and your FH thanking everyone who has helped with the preparation. I know some people keep it a surprise and announce their bridal party on the night.

:D headed there now. I feel so clueless when it comes to organising everything. I keep getting sidetracked looking at everyone's beautiful photos.

We already chosen the half of the bridal party but we have decided to wait until closer to the wedding to finalise the bridal party in case anything changes. I also want to ask my cousin to be my MOH but she has recently gone through a divorce last year which upset and hurt her a lot so I dont want to upset her even more. She is still very fragile.

I can imagine it would be excting to announce the "chosen ones" at the engagement party.

Looks like you had so much fun! I really hope we get a chance to enjoy the night together. We dont get to see each other much as I work shift work. We often find ourselves leaving as the other gets home so its quality time when we get it.

Welcome Caroline. You'll get plenty of ideas while here. All I can say is choose a few ppl for speaches then let your mc handle it. I know in my family ppl get drunk and everyone decides to talk so you may not have a say on the matter lol.
