First purchase towards gift box!

Well today I made the first purchase towards the gift box I am doing for my darling FH.

Groom socks! I ordered them for labellamafia84 on Ebay. She was great to deal with. $16 inc postage, which is the cheapest i could find. Most were at least $10 for postage.

This is the poem i am using, you've probably seen it before!

It is sure to be playing on your nerves,
as our wedding day is here.
So I have put together a special gift,
Read on and it shall become clear.


At first appearance the ‘groom’ socks
may just seem kind of sweet.
But really they have a purpose,
they are for you if you get ‘cold feet’


You will find I added a 5 cent piece,
And I know this isn’t much honey,
But it is in there to reassure you,
that we always have some money.


Marbles are placed in the kit,
and you may be wondering why.
They are in case you lose your own,
So your best to keep them close by.


As the day draws near – sleep?
you may not have received an ounce.
So for that reason I have enclosed Berocca,
To give you back that B B Bounce!


You will find one piece of string,
Which is lighter then a feather.
The reason for this is one day,
We may need help to hold it all together.


Just like our relationship,
We can watch these seedlings grow.
A marriage takes time and patience,
in time it will start to show.


You will be stretched way beyond your limit,
and feeling frustrated at times.
So here is a rubber band to help you stretch beyond,
and to stop you committing any crimes.

This padlock has a special job,
It’s to keep our relationship locked tight
It will secure our friendship and love
And help us overcome any fight.


Mints & a chap stick are very important,
For that first kiss as man & wife.
As it’s the very first kiss we will share,
Signifying the beginning of the rest of our life.

All my love is for you,
So I have enclosed this lolly heart.
It shows you have always had mine,
Even from the very start.

After months & months of planning
Your nerves are probably frayed,
But don't despair, I have a gift for you
Good old ‘Jack’ will come to your aid

Last but not least,
I have left the most special gift till last.
A watch for you to keep,
As I know time can move so fast.

We need to always remember,
As time fly’s on by
We should always make time for you and me,
And do our best to try.

I hope that through out our lives together,
You will hold fond memories from this gift,
And place it close to your heart,
Because I know it will never drift.

I will wrap up each present with the verse of the poem, and have it numbered in the order he must open them.

Then in an envelope down the bottom, ill have the poem in one piece!

Thanks! Only thing im worried about is spending money on a watch that he might not wear.... Not sure whether to just get a cheap one for the poems sake....
he has mentioned before how he'd like a nice watch cos he used to wear one all the time, but he doesnt now at all..... but there is no guarantees he'd wear it....plus its like $300, wouldnt it be for a nice gentlemans watch???

Yeah it would be nice to tailor it a little more and make it a bit more personalised... but im not that creative and dont have the time to sit and play with it!!!!

Maybe shop around for a watch... you can pick some decent ones up for about half that - try the jewellry catalouges for the specials as well... or maybe you could get him a clock for your new house in stead of the watch??

I am doing the same for FH Manda, I am so excited to start making it all! I have the box already just gotta get everything to put in it. What about a clock instead of a watch? YOu might need one for your new house anyway so kill two birds with one stone? and you can just change the words to 'a clock to keep'

yer i thought about the clock.... On the other site they suggested that...... I just think a watch is kinda more personal...... hmmmm i might be able to get a nice one on special.... we'll see :)
