Talking to DF about things and I think I might convince him to get his truck lisence and we'll save to start up our own removals business...
The wedding CAN wait... Lack of finances will drive us further into the ground. Apparently his current "boss" said he'll help him get his lisence (driving etc) and his Aunt said they'll help with the cost of getting it... I already have an ABN so when the time comes I'll register it for GST and we'll start advertising, hire a truck and when the revenue starts to build up, we'll buy our own truck and word of mouth will spread and we can buy more advertising... Right now, I'm in the frame of mind where I don't NEED to get married, I don't want to get married if it means we'll keep chasing our tails... I can do a registry office wedding so long as I get my dress and my girls can walk down the aisle before me. I grew up without a dream of my wedding the only thing I ever wanted was my dress, and now that we have children, I want them to walk down the aisle before me - they are the only things I WANT... I mean, all that really matters at the end of the day is that we are married and I have the same surname as my children... I was just excited about the location we found, but in reality, if things don't change (and we have to MAKE them change), we're always going to be doing it tough... We lived too well before the children and are paying for it now... I do miss the annual Feb holiday though, was the only time I got to get away from Sydney at the time our first baby was due... Also came in handy that he was due on Valentine's Day, means we were always away for it, together... Anyways, so I just thought I'd share that we may put off the wedding indefinitely as the priority is that we can survive. Not to save to get married. If we want it by 10 years, we still have until 2011 so plenty of time to try and get established in business and hopefully start rolling it in. I can use the printers at work to do flyers until we can afford to buy a new for home (my bro borrowed mine and didn't give it back with a power cord, he can't find one to fit it) so we can branch out to colours etc... Letter drops and word of mouth will be our first form of advertising... Wish us every success!!! |

And it's not like we're not getting married at all... Just not when we were originally planning to get married... Unless of course business takes off blindingly well then I may even have options as to what to do for it... *hmmm* |

Thanks...
It's gonna be tough to start with and it will be a while before we actually start the business, have to get the licence first which is $60 for the MR permit and log book. If we go through a company who does courses, you don't have to book and sit and hire a truck to do the driving test through the RTA. They do everything as you learn, as soon as you can do everything you have your licence, just have to exchange the logbook for the licence for $20. The 8 hour course (local) is $760 otherwise it's $95 an hour... If we end up having to pay it ourselves, it'll be several months before we can do it. I can force myself to learn accounting (even if it's just a simple MYOB course at TAFE) so we don't have to hire someone and I can then be a WAHM!! But, licence is first thing... |

oh, widget, I understand. Money is truly the root of all evil. I don't have children, but we are a single income household as I'm studying at the moment, and will be for at least 2 more years. There have been many times when I've thought of postponing the whole darn thing too. Best wishes to you and your family. The cost of living is only ever increasing with rent and petrol and food and clothes....
![]() Love Chessa xx PS, Oz is right. We all deserve our dreams to come true. You deserve it. Good luck with the business. |
