Anyone with ideas for an engagement party location that isn't too expensive?? We will need to hire a venue... I don't even know what I'm looking for... DF said hire out a hall, but I can't seem to locate "that" online... I even searched the local pink pages...

In regards to needing a DJ/MC I rang my old neighbour last night and he sounds keen if we need his services, means his fiance gets a free ticket to the wedding!! I think it's a good price, though he was guessing... DF said it was cheap. He'll supply everything unless there's something I want that he doesn't have. He's looking for a particular song for me now, it's a new one so I might need to supply it myself!

Hmmm... May have found somewhere... She's emailing me price list with package deals now!!

Community Directory Browse

Look at the website for the councils in the area you want to have your party. They usually have a list of halls.

Found the location for the engagement party!! It's going to be at the community centre which is directly behind us in the next street.

$350 for hall hire (incidentally not listed in the council list) and caterers will be around $1200 and they do cocktail foods... Will leave around $500 for alcohol. $11.95 per head isn't too bad is it??

DF I think has decided to look for a new job as his current one is skimping on his OT pays... He did 15 hours of overtime last week and we only got an extra $47... not worth it...

We also had a look at another function centre last night, they threw in lots of inclusions and from what I can tell by doing a mental comparison, it's the best deal so far, he's throwing in the wedding night accommodation at a nice hotel in Baulko for free!! We don't particularly like the location of this place though, and if we do go for it, we have to find another location for the ceremony as it's too far to go from Pitt Town to Quakers for it.

Hmmm... He said something about photographer for $1200 with 250 shots... Does that seem ok?? And Limo hire for the day (not including transfer to the hotel) is $400...

I can't find where I put all my info and I have a headache so can't think right at the moment...

Hey Widget well like I said earlier we are paying $70 a head for our menu and that includes, 3 course menu, canapé for guests, table decorations, HR room hire, DJ/MC, unlimited beer wine and soft drink, and its going to cost us about $6000, we are looking at about 80 guests, but may have a few more now. Its beautiful and looks so nice all done up and Rosie who is the function coordinator is so lovely.
Hugs Mill xx

$11.95 is reasonable depending on what they offer you for that price

THIS is the inclusions for the caterers...

We may have actually found the Reception venue... It's at the Oasis in Quakers... $88 per head for 65 guests, though will be a little less for the few children. That includes basically everything that Cropley house does (except ceremony) and because we were referred there by the party planner, they're going to throw in free bridal make-up, the honeymoon on our wedding night at the Crowne plaza in Baulko and he will allow us to pay off the deposit and reception costs!!

But we don't like the location of it or the entrance, the stairs are also a tad steep for the oldies, spesh when leaving after having a few. There's graffitti out the front and lets face it, the neighbourhood isn't exactly one of the nicer ones in Sydney...

i had a look at the caters site and as far as i can tell that's pretty standard for that price and as for the venue - if it's not right then don't take it - but i guess it's really your choice

I get 3 course meal, drinks and snacks on arrival, beer, wine and soft drink, champagne for toasts, champagne fountain of love, MC, DJ, 2 tier cake, guest book, floral arrangement including candelbra, telegrams and song requests on each table, make up for bride, honeymoon suite for wedding night with breakfast and late checkout... That's $5720... Oh, and there's no site hire...

If I add a limo from me in the morning to the reception centre and a photographer with 250 shots which also gives me an album, poster size and a few other things, it's $7320...

I think it's a price we won't be able to pass up... It will give me around $2700 to get everything else, unless we get a bit from the engagement party...

The best thing about the reception centre, is that they will allow us to pay off deposit and reception, and we won't be able to get $500 deposit until November at the earliest, otherwise we don't have an egagement party...
