Hair curling - how long?

I want my hair either curly or wavey for my wedding. I've been told by my sister that I want the hairdresser to use a curling iron and blow dryer and not the setter machine thingy cause apparently it hurts. My hair is medium length - goes to my armpits. Anyone have any idea how long this would take them?

it depends how well your hair will hold a curl?? there no real telling until you try... if you can get them to use a ghd to create your curls... my hair doesn't hold a curl very well with just normal curls but for some reason when it is curled with a ghd it doesn't move!!

yep, i agree, the GHD curls would be the best move....but i'm not sure what she's talking about with the setting machine, as in hot rollers? depends on what curls your wanting, soft wavy curls would work best with hot rollers (and they dont hurt!) or defined curls (like the precious little flower girls ones in catherines post!) would be best done either with tongs or a GHD.....I personally think you get better results from the GHD, its more natural looking.

Ok for someone who is happy just to get her hair cut and coloured. Whats a GHD? I have natural curls and yes you can have them if you want, so have never had to worry about curlers or any other devices.

My hairdresser will be using a GHD. They don't use curling irons at all as they tend to damage hair alot more than a GHD.
I have really long hair, and I think it took half an hour during a practice run when I had my hair cut a few weeks back, but they have allowed for an hour.
