This is really cute... The Monitor - Beyonce Fan Cam: How Did You Put a Ring On It?... They asked a bunch of couples at a Beyonce concert how they got engaged.. the stories are really sweet... So it has inspired me to create a thread where we can talk about how we got engaged.. My story isn't very out of the ordinary.. he took me to my favorite restaurant and asked me after desert.. What about you guys?

Hmm .....

I was the one who did the asking ..... i guess i got impatient!
We were laying in bed cuddling after .....yeah ok .... after making love, the question popped into my head nd out thru my mouth...

"Babe, do u love me?"
"Yes i love you, with all of me" ...... which is a normal reaction from Col ......"Why do you ask"
"Oh i just wondered if you loved me enough to marry me?"
"Of course i do and ... of course i will"

I found out about two weeks later that he had full intentions on asking me, but was going to ask on Christmas Morning......oops!!!

Thats a good one, well mine was a more of a conversation - then OK here is some money go buy a ring. My DP is not the romantic type. Once I got the ring his words were "OK i guess I will let you marry me".


Not exactly a good story to tell DS when he is older.

Oh my story is a bit long :)

DF's sister had organised a family BBq down on the Yarra River last year (April 6th), little did I know he has arranged for my parents and my best friend at the time to show up as a surprise.

He actually got down on one knee and proposed, then told me to look sideways where my parents had appeared!!

FH proposed to me in Thailand after a day spent at the Tiger Temple. We went down by the pool for a drink after we got back to the hotel and he was acting really weird, like he was p*ssed off or something and then we went back to our room and he told me he wanted to talk to me about something - I was like, great, what's up his bum now? Then he got down on his good knee (4wks after having his ACL reconstructed) and pulled out a ring I burst into tears.....I had no idea! I sent a sms to my best friend in Canada that night but we kept it a secret for the rest of our holiday till we got home, which was nice - our little secret

mine was never going to be a show stopper - DH is far too shy LOL

I had the day off work and he came home early and knocked at the door - I was "why can't he use his keys" so I got up to let him in and he revealed a bunch of pink and red roses - highly odd as it's only like the 2nd time he'd bought me flowers

I gave him a kiss and said they are gorgeous hun and then went to get them some water.

He said - there's more - and I hadn't noticed the little red box in the middle of the bunch.

he opened it and put it on and we both kinda stood there a bit flabbergasted. I said - you have to ask :) - and he did.. afterwards I said to him - what no bended knee LOL

he then told me to pack as we were going out to dinner and spend the night in a hotel he'd booked in the city. such a great night.

mine actually involved DS.
We had been together for 5 years - had a 3 year old at that point.
It was our anniversary - and because it was 5 years i thought it would be really nice to get him a ring (not engagement ring) to signify 5 years.
I didnt realise this but he was proposing that day. We both had organised the day off - and DS was suppossed to be going to daycare still so we could have adult time (very rare)
I had a shower etc and whilst I was in the shower FH had shown DS the ring.
We were about to go out and FH stopped me in our bedroom... he said he wanted my opinion on where we were to go out for lunch.
DS said McDonalds :D he didnt realise he wasnt coming :D
FH said that he had another question also - He went on one knee and proposed.
DS and FH then put the ring on my finger so DS was involved....
We were so broke at the time with mortgage etc and he had paid the layby off for the ring over a period of time from his overtime wages and got me a beautiful ring....
I still love looking at it :D

My proposal came late one night after FH got home after work at 11:30. He was so insistent all night that we have desert when he got home.. I told him I thought it was a little late, but he kept persisting. He tucked me into bed and told me he was off to go and get desert. He came back with a peice of ebony and ivory cake left over from my Stepsons birthday party the day prior and it had a ring poking out of it! YAY. LOL. I was quite moved by it all. He asked if I'd say yes to being his wife.. Apparently Id foiled other attempts.. a month earlier we'd gone to stay down the coast and I hopped into the spa, FH mentioned he'd left his phone down in the car and he'd just go and get it.. Me, being me asked him "why? if anyone wants to call, they'll just call my phone", he's like "But what if Mum calls" and I replied "She only calls my phone usually anyways.." and im like "I dont want to be left up here in the spa by myself" LOL.. but yes, the phone wasnt what was in the car!!! Silly me.. others include me falling asleep or heading onto the computer and misreading his signs for a close night. Another we went to the Hogs Breath for dinner, movie afterwards etc..but someone left the ring behind!! Geez.. it was a long road, but we got there..

The first time FH proposed was on my 19th bday & he woke me up with a bunch of gerbera's with the ring in one of the flowers, I kinda knew he was gonna ask me at some stage cos we had been talking about it but i wasnt sure when.
He had actually gotten his mum who lives in tassie to buy the ring & he sent money over to her cos he had no idea what i would like, (mind you i had never met his mum at this stage either lol). I found out after that he asked dad first, which ment so much to me & dad.

Then last year he said we could go & get another more expensive one cos the first one was brought on very very very limited funds cos he was only a first year apprentice at the time so wasnt earning much. We ended up finding one but instead of giving it to me straight away he made me wait! With the box sitting on the table lol. He wanted to ask me properly, when the time was perfect... I ended up having to wait about 2 weeks i think & he ended up asking me in the kitchen! lol
