How far do you want to go ?

Those of you who are planning on doing this - how far do you plan on going ? I've noticed that there all all different levels when it comes to these trash the dress sessions. Some just take their pictures at a place where you would normally not go as a bride, quite many get wet, some get dirty or muddy, some go as far as painting their dress or cutting it up... I guess if you go for the milder ones you can still salvage your dress afterwards, with the tough ones not.

Myself I'd love to do this together with our whole wedding party and then it becomes more a matter of how far that they are prepared to go. Myself I could do almost anything. I wouldn't cry if my dress gets totally ruined but it's not that it HAS to get ruined either. I wouldn't go for anything that would leave my looking indecent somehow, like cutting off the dress or similar, otherwise I've really no lmits on it.

I saw on one of those photography pages that one of the alternatrives that they suggested was the bride and the groom wrestling in mud! Maybe an idea for you then if wrestling is your hobby ?

I'm into sailing and I've been thinking of doing that, but it's hard if we're all to do it together as the boats that I'm sailing with are smaller ones, not big yachts that can hold a whole bunch of people.

Getting wet is pretty safe and can be fun and romantic too, given the right setting. Maybe getting into the pool or hitting the beach ? And in almost every case your dress will survive getting wet. I think mud will wash out many times too, but I guess it depends on the material that the dress is made of and perhaps on what type of mud that it is too.

No I wouldn't consider that option either. I want to have fun IN my dress, doing crazy stuff in it, not doing something to it. And I certainly wouldn't consider setting my dress on fire with me inside it . Burning the dress separately is a totally different thing. One of my best friends did that to her dress, but that was after that her husband divorced her. I guess under such circumstances I could consider doing it, but that's a whole different story. Now I want to have fun in my dress!

We'd another planning meeting with our wedding party (there have been so many as we've had to postpone our wedding twice, due to medical problems on the part of my h2b) and we talked about this ttd thing as well and they reasssured me that it's no problem with them. They think it sounds like fun and it doesn't seem to scare them at all. And as for how far that we can go they said that that's up to me to decide, almost anything is ok with them. As one of them put it 'please don't tar-and-feather us, otherwise anything goes..'

I mentioned to them the different things that have been suggested, like jumping into the pool, going into mud, having a food fight, playing with paint and so and they just laughed and nodded ok to it all. The only concern that was aired was about paint, please don't get it into our hair! We don't want to have to cut off our hair afterwards...

Hmm, Mary Grace, what about a TTD where it gets "trashed" by using the dress itself as a guest book?

Perhaps everyone could sign it at the end of the evening, much the same as signing school uniforms at the end of high school?
