I'm ring-less!!!

With the wedding about a month away (and along with it, the anniversary of our engagement), I thought I'd take my ring to a jeweller to be cleaned and to make sure the setting is still holding strong. I was told it was a good idea to do this say once a year or so.

So in I go. Lo and behold, it turns out that the setting my stone is in is compromised! It wasn't set well, and apparently isn't a strong type. I was a bit unsure when we got it, but as you see heaps similar around, I figured it must be OK. But no!

So no engagement ring for 10 days while the jeweller fixes the setting and resets my rock!

We knew the stone has flaws, and to us that's fine, because its natural, and like life, nothing is perfect. But its our stone, and it would cost us a small fortune to replace, so I was freaking when I found out that the setting was a crappy one!

Oh well, its being fixed. But I feel so naked!!!

WOW lucky that you went and got it looked at hey Blossy. Aww I would feel naked without my rings so I know the feeling and I had to get my engagement ring re-sized they were really quick for me but still felt so weird. But at least you only have 10 days instead of buy a new stone!! 10 days will fly ;) (I hope).

I'd be so devestated if we had to buy a new stone. Not only can we not afford it, it just wouldn't be the same! I want MY one!

It was freaky, he got these big tweezer things out and showed me how the stone was moving.

but he assures me he can fix it :)

Aah well, at least it will come back more secure and I won't have to stress about my stone.

I'm dreading this! I lost one of the small shoulder diamonds in mine and I'm hanging out till just before the wedding to put it in get replaced, I need to go up a size and to have it cleaned polished etc.... I hate going without my ring!!! And it really sucks because when I do lots of crocheting my hands swell and there's times that I can't wear it.....

Oh no! I did not put my ring in to get cleaned, I did it myself so I never had to go without my ring. You must feel naked!

They were really good where we got my rings from they cleaned it when I picked up my ring which was the day before the wedding, lol, they said that they could keep it safe there for me. And they even sent a card to go with someone so it was placed "beside" our wishing well with all the other cards.

Moey - I feel totally naked!
Bridmissy - I crochet too, so I take it off for that, otherwise I'm sure the gold will get rubbed a lot from the way I hold my wool. I hope mine is the right size.. both feel OK, so I guess that will do? Its annoying when you realise after a while that maybe its not quite right.
Kelz - that's awesome Kelz. I will probably just go to a local jeweller the day before or so and get it cleaned again, but gee I'm glad I got this seen to!

Its funny how much it means to me. It could be a as yellow as a banana and with black spots in it that look like dirt, I'd be devestated to lose that stone!

Ohh bugger. Ohh well I guess it is better to have no ring for 10 days then to lose a diamond!
