Newly engaged and my ring!!

Hi im new here im Charmaine Im 24 yrs old and a mum to a lovely 20 month old boy. I have a partner Tim who is 26 and I have been with him for 6 months.

On the 13th of february I asked my partner to marry me. we have only been together for 6 months ( yes i know its been a short while Ive had many negative remarks cause of this) but we both feel in our hearts it is right and its something we havent experienced with anyone else b4.

I gace him an engagement ring and he said yes. On february 28th we went to footy training and on the way back we went to the local shopping centre. I was looking at rings and he goes choose one for ur engagement ring i proclaimed and said i wasnt going to choose it and tht he should choose the one he likes and buy it as its the thought tht counts i didnt care bout the price or anything.

He chose the ring and kepts stirring me about it all the way home. as i was in the dining room he came up to me and held my hand infront of my family and said will u marry me and slipped the ring on my finger ( wrong finger at first lol).

The ring is really nice. It is stirling silver heart shaped everyone is comment how it isnt the traditional engagemnt ring with the big diamond stone. I love it cause hes the one tht chose it and there was thought in it. I believe these days everyone is so worried about the ring how much it costs how big the diamond. Im just happy to have a commited partner who treats me well and with respect. Its not about the ring its about the love and the commitment of wanting to be together and have a life together.

Welcome to BTB, Cuddly! I know what you mean about a quick engagement. I'm 23 and my darling FH is going to be 25 on Saturday. We got together in Dec 06, broke up in June 07, then got back together in Nov 07, and were engaged by Christmas. Now we're getting married in July, and I swear sometimes I'm scared it's going to do my head in!

My ring is very simple, three brilliant cut CZ in white gold, but I love it cos it's simple and won't catch on anything or scratch our future children. Your ring looks gorgeous, it shouldn't matter how much it cost or how big the diamond is or even if they are real diamonds! The main thing is that he chose it, and he loves you! It should be about the two of you pledging to spend the rest of your lives together, not about the ring!

Any questions, ask the girls here! They're a wealth of knowledge and have already helped me out of a couple of sticky situations. Pick their brains, and keep an open mind!

so true Cuddly, couldn't agree more. I love your ring too. Don't let people (especially strangers) get you down with their unasked for opinions about your engagement!

PS- If your camera has a 'macro' setting (usually a pic of a flower of something on the settings dial) then you need to turn it to that to take pics of stuff that close- hope that helps!!

congratulations! Don't let anybody tell you you're not doing the right thing. My fiance and I are getting married in 2009 and having a baby in June and we had a lot of remarks about the baby being born out of wedlock - phooey haha I don't care what they say and either should you! Enjoy every minute of it!
