Smile Options to Bouquet Toss

I've only got 1 single female present at my wedding, so I'm after ideas for alternatives to the bouquet toss.

I've heard of:

- tossing it to everyone
- keeping it
- giving it to a mum or someone else
- giving it to the longest married couple

Also, I caught the bouquet at our last family wedding (my cousin) so I thought perhaps I could give mine to her.

Just wondering if anyone else has any ideas? At the moment I'm tending towards giving it to my cousin (if I get my way - there's a sister issue... a whole other story). I'd keep it, but we aren't getting it preserved (had to cut the budget somewhere), and drying it myself isn't an option (they are lilies).

Just wondering what you think?

---

Oh BTW there is only one single guy attending so we are forgoing the garter toss too. I'll still wear one, but just for the sake of tradition and as a keepsake.

I hadn't heard of the longest married couple idea- that's really sweet! (assuming they are happily married /lol/ otherwise maybe they don't want to be reminded hee hee)
I like the mum idea as well- I am currently thinking that I will have my bouqet so that I can divide in in 2 and give to my mum and FMIL- and I will just make up a throw away one out of some fakies I already have in a similar colour, cause it seems like a fun tradition and there should be quite a few single women at mine...

Anyway, after all that blabbering- I like the longest married couple or mum ideas!

I gave it to the longest married couple which were my grand parents - 40 years. It was great and I am so glad I did it. My gran broke down crying and everyone said how great it was :)

Sarah - I wanted to have my bouquet made as a break bouquet so I could give half to each mum, but my florist cant do it.

If you have a hand tied posy it might be easier - but I'm having lilies, which need to be wired, and they aren't confident they can make it work :(

So my throw away bouquet is a hand tied breakaway for the mums instead :)

I am giving it to my mum but agree giving it to the longest married couple is very sweet.

I was also going to give the bouquet to mum and then a single rose to all the single women but then decided I don't like the idea of singling out the single people (can be hard enough being single at a wedding sometimes).

I think the longest married couple is a beautiful idea - i was considering it but cant now - the longest would have been my pop and nan (60 years next year) - but my nan passed away 2 months ago so i think it would to much of a reminder to my pop... Then i was going to give it to my pop to put on her grave but i dont know if pop will handle that either...

So not sure yet what ill do...

I think it's a lovely idea to give it to your pop. It would be hard for him but I am sure he will love that you have acknowledged her.

I agree, it's a beautiful way to remember her on the day.

I know what you mean about it being a bit hard for your Pop- perhaps you could make it at a time after the speaches so he could sneak away and collect himself without missing anything too important if he got a bit emotional?
