So excited, and the party is weeks away!

Ok well the venue is booked, catering organised, invitation list is complete.

I will be printing off and putting together the invites this weekend and sending off!!!

For our present my parents are now paying for the food and cake for the party. :) I couldnt beleive it!

I do have a couple of questions though. We are not having a bar tab, its not too tacky to ask for people to pay for their own drinks is it? (Its being held in a function room of a pub)..

Also, we have been together/lived together for years, we dont need anything. Is it rude to ask for Flight Centre gift vouchers? We are getting married next year in Las Vegas, so it would be great to help pay for flights..

P.S I am still very very giddy over being engaged!!!

Congratulations on the engagement! You sound like your very organised for the party :)

In answer to your questions - I don't think it would be too tacky. The people going are there to celebrate with you, they won't be there just for free drinks - though i would definately mention something on the invite so people are prepared when they get there.

And as for asking for Flight centre gift vouchers, i think its a great idea. I went to a wedding a few weeks back and the bride and groom asked for money instead of gifts. Inside the inivtation there was a cute little note that didn't seem rude at all. If you have lived together for such a long time I am sure people will understand that you dont really need three new toasters or anything!

Yeh most ppl aske for money now. It's not like the old days when ppl didn't live together until they were married most ppl live together and have all they need. As we all know some cultures only give money. As for your engagement party its not tacky at all for ppl to buy their own drinks. They will be happy just to celebrate with you.

Thanks gals. We have put that drinks are at bar prices on the invites.. Also we have designed a cute little note to go inside the invites about the gifts..

To be honest we are throwing the party to celebrate and not for gifts, we would be happy to get nothing as long as our friends/family are there :)

KK I think if you tell ppl as well that you're off to vegas for the wedding and essentially they won't be attending they'll be more inclined to give you a better "gift" as it will be your wedding present. Perhaps a nice little poem about don't need any more stuff, flying to vegas to get married, a gift now could help us get there??????

Everyone knows we are going to Vegas to get married anyway. We have been discussing it for over a year already :) Just never got round to setting a date as I was waiting for the "ring" :)

But we did put on the little note that we are getting married in Veas and that their gift will definitly help. (Put better then that though!!)..

I am so excited about the party, its in less then a month now!!

Woohoo Only a few more days until the party!! Last week I ordered some cute little matchbooks with mints in them, with our names and date on them as little favours for everyone :)

I cant wait! Althuogh I am having major bridesmaid issues, that a story for another day!
