Uh Oh Hotel Needs To Be Booked Soon

Was checking out what accommodation is available for the night before/ night of and night after the wedding in Perth for the wedding next year.
Thought I was silly for looking already.
The place I wanted for the night before is already booked full for that time frame.
Hmm a little odd I thought so I started poking around and alot of places don't have any reservations available on that weekend.
Then it dawned on me....We are getting married on a long weekend which is also the 1st weekend of school holidays and the AFL grand final weekend to boot.

So in a couple of weeks I will have the $ to reserve a place or places.
Now to decide what to do.
FH wants to spend our 1st 2 nights as newlyweds in this gorgeous B&B BUT I think it will be like staying at your parents place. Kinda wierd.
Has anyone else done/doing this??

I have looked into some self contained apartments. Some with 2 bedrooms.
I am considering something like this to stay in with my girls the night before and then with FH the next 2 nights.
These are an affordable option for us, have more privacy but not so romantic.
Although we can make it so.

We can't really afford some of the Speciallty Hotels (with spas and pools and honeymoon suites etc). We can afford some of the mid range places but really do have to get in quick on those.

The other problems I have is accommodation places usually don't let you check in till 1-2pm.
How do we go about checking in on the wedding day if we go to one??
Do we check in between ceremony and reception?? Do we check in after reception?? We get married at 2pm/reception at 5pm.

Aaaah I didn't think there were so many things to think about when it comes to finding a place to sleep (or not )

Sorry it's a bit long.

SO hear you girl!! I'm getting married, not long weekend, but the weekend of a graduation ceremony (there is a UNI at my home town!).

also, we were wanting to use our hotel room we will be staying at as our dressing room, but am having issues with getting them to check us in early....will have to strap on my authority boots and march in there and sort this all out!

As for B&B vs self contained, i am with you on the B&B, I think more privacy is a better option! and maybe if you stay there with your bridal girls the night before, could be one of your fun things to do, maybe they can help you 'romance' the place up the night before?

As I am only having my young daughters in the bridal party I don't think I'll "waste" the luxury on them ha ha

Oh, ok, i've got my head around it now! :)

Whati would do is, pop your stuff in at reception before the check in, and ask them to put your stuff in the room when its ready. maybe explain to them you'll send someone designated for the key, then send one of your helpful minions to pick up the key when your getting photos done, and. hey presto, they can hand you your room key at the reception! magic! that is, of course, if you can't negotiate to get in there earlier, with those authority boots on that i was talking about!

i am having a similar dilema fh and i want to stay the night of and the following night after the wedding at a hotel or similar and i am trying to figure out how i would get my things there - the only possible solution i have thought of (but have yet to talk to her about it) is that my mum is thinking of coming to my place to get her make-up done with the rest of the girls so i'm thinking of asking if she can drop my stuff into the hotel as it wont be that far from the ceremony venue.

I'm staying a the hotel the night before so I don't have that issue but I didn't have to pay a deposit when I booked, I only gave them my credit card for an imprint which they will take a cancellation fee from if we don't show. Also if anyone you know has an entertainment book/gold card check out hotels in the book, we picked our hotel for convenience/sentimental reasons but tit turns out we get a 20% discount on the already discounted price for having a gold card. Well worth buying a $60 book even if just for this!

i was originally going to stay at a hotel the night before but this was because i was hoping to go by horse and carriage, but since that didn't work out i figured we'd go from home as it saved me a bit of money (and the girls too)

The gold card thing won't work. Unfortuantly they are only valid til the 1st of June. I know cause we are planning on an October 2009 wedding and I wanted to use the Gold Card for our honeymoon but probably won't because it don't want to wait til May next year to book.

Yep will work - we booked ours last year, they didn't take the gold card number we just need to present it on the day when we pay. We've had one for the past few years and I only just got the new one that'll be valid for our honeymoon!
