I have heard that you buy each other gifts, but I also know of some couples that don't as it isn't important to them.
I think that you should just go with what feels right, but remember to talk to your FH about it in case what happened to one of my friends occurs. She thought that he wouldn't buy her anything, and so didn't get him anything, and he bought her some of her favourite perfume and beautiful bracelet for her to wear that day.... |

I saw this grooms gift poem on another site. I'm goign to collect all the item and put them in a box for the Best Man to give to Mark on the morning of the wedding. The first poem is the original the second one is mine - I changed it suit us more. Each piece of the poem is tied to the item and the whole thing will be in a card a the bottom which I have designed for him that says to my husband on our wedding day.
it is sure to be playing on your nerves, as our wedding day is near. So I have put together a special gift, Read on and it shall become clear. At first appearance the ‘groom’ socks may just seem kind of sweet. But really they have a purpose, they are for you if you get ‘cold feet’ Mints & a chap stick are very important, For that first kiss as man & wife. As it’s the very first kiss we will share, Signifying the beginning of the rest of our life. After months & months of planning Your nerves are probably frayed, But don't despair, I have a gift for you Good old ‘Jack’ will come to your aid. You will find I added a 5 cent piece, And I know this isn’t much honey, But it is in there to reassure you, that we always have some money. Marbles are placed in the kit, and you may be wondering why. They are in case you lose your own, So your best to keep them close by. As the day draws near – sleep? you may not have received an ounce. So for that reason I have enclosed Berocca, To give you back that B B Bounce! You will find one piece of string, Which is lighter then a feather. The reason for this is one day, We may need help to hold it all together. As you have a brilliant sense of humour, I have popped in a book of jokes. Its something you should always keep with you, For when life give us those pokes. Just like our relationship, We can watch these seedlings grow. A marriage takes time and patience, in time it will start to show. You will be stretched way beyond your limit, and feeling frustrated at times. So here is a rubber band to help you stretch beyond, and to stop you committing any crimes. This padlock has a special job, It’s to keep our relationship locked tight It will secure our friendship and love And help us overcome any fight. There are times when you may need a friend And I am not around So here's a teddy for you to hug To wipe away your frown All my love is for you, So I have enclosed this lolly heart. It shows you have always had mine, Even from the very start. Last but not least I have left the most special gift till last. A watch for you to keep As I know time can move so fast. We need to always remember As time fly’s on by We should always make time for you and me, And do our best to try. I hope that through out our lives together, You will hold fond memories from this gift, And place it close to your heart, Because I know it will never drift. Our love is strong and our wedding fast approaching I've some items for you and our future that is encroaching Socks made of lamb's wool So soft and sweet To protect My Love - (I call FH My Love) From getting "cold feet" Fresh minty breath for the rest of your life? Or just for our first kiss as Husband and Wife! (He would never use Chapstick) In here you'll find A small amount of money, It's just to reassure you We'll always have some honey. One of our bombon boxes tied with personalised ribbon containing $1 Marbles in a box, I hear you ask why? They're in case you loose your own, So better keep these close by! - Same as above Wedding plans have exhausted us and we've had the odd fight, Today it's all behind us, We'll be celebrating tonight! - Attached to a bottle of Woodstock "The Stocks" Shiraz) Between the wedding, house and working you had hardly slept and ounce So here is some Berocca To give back your B B Bounce! This piece of string is as light as a feather But like our great love It holds many things together Your brilliant sense of humour has always kept me smiling This'll help us continue laughing As time keeps on whiling A marriage like seeds is cultivated and grown, With tender loving care, And lots of patience shown. attached to a packet of seedlings At time you'll be frustrated and at the end of your tether, This signifies my support I'll help you hold it all together. This padlock contains the key to my heart, It'll mend any hurts And end fights quick smart! There may be times you need me And you're feeling a little down, Keep this near to remind you of our love In case I'm not around - He's been bugging me to get him a picture of me or us for his desk so I'll use this instead. My life is entwined with yours, So I have enclosed this Chocolate heart. You know you've always had mine, Even from the very start. But one gift left the lucky last, A diary to record your thoughts Because life passes by so fast. I hope these gifts of string marbles, wine and lock Show you how much I want to be Mrs P - our last name rhymes with lock Today it becomes official We'll be announced Husband and Wife I will promise to honour and love you, for the rest of my life. |
