We're getting wet !

Well after much talking back and forth about what to do and how far we can go, with radical ways like playing with paint being one option, we've now decided that for our main reception we'll limit it to water - we'll get wet ! So the plan is to make use of the big pool at the resort where we're having our reception. We haven't planned yet exactly how to to do it, but ourselves plus the whole wedding party will get soaked anyhow. Hopefully some of our guests will want to join us too, but I don't think that we'll get all 650 guests to go for that..I don't even think that the pool could handle that many

Our celebration goes over four days really but the first night (our pre wedding party) we won't do anything like this. That is a more solemn affair and also I'm of course not wearing my wedding gown for that one. Our main reception is the biggest one, the two nights following we're going down in size considerably. The last night it will be only our closest friends and family and the members of the wedding party. We might be planning some ttd activities for the two latter nights too, and possibly we might go more radical then. But for the first one, water will be it.

We're hiring some people at the resort to help everyone with drying and/or ironing their outfits in case that they are wearing the same ones for the next night. That way our guests shouldn't get any practical problems with it. I don't think that just going into the pool will really ruin peoples clothes. But it will still be a crazy feeling to go swimming in my big dress, veil, heels and the whole lot

Well having a higher number of guests doesn't make it all that much different -just a bit more work with planning and with invitations and RSVPs and that. We'll have to be standing in the reception line for a while though

The numbers got high for two reasons: I've got a really big family and in my culture you normally invite all your relatives, not just the close ones. And then my H2B has a fair size family too (though smaller than mine) but he's also into politics so he has quite a few friends from there too.

I don't think we'll have a problem with managing the crowd ok ... but then as I mentioned above I don't think that they'll all go swimming with us - that would get the pool packed like a can of sardines

When I say my culture I mean from the Philippines. I'm from there but I have lived most of my life in the US. But also in the US we usually stick to our Filipino customs. And big weddings is just part of that.
