My Mood:
Confused Who traditionally pays?

Hi All!

My FMIL has just asked what do the parents of the Groom traditionally pay for and FH and I are unsure. Does anyone know?

What did your FIL's pay for if anything?

Thanks

My Mood:
from what i have heard, the brides father pays for the wedding and the grooms family pays for the alcohol & rehearsal dinner... i'm sure there is more... I have heard that they also pay for transport too.

Just checking my Bride's Diary and it says:

Groom & Groom's family pay for:

Bride's ring & wedding gift
Gifts for Groom's party
Tie's etc for Groom's party
Bride's bouquet
Bottonholes & Corsages
Clergymans (celebrants) fee
Rehersal dinner
honeymoon
Travelling expenses and hotel bills and

going away outfits

If I gave this to FMIL she'd have a stroke LOL!

My Mood:
Bride / Bride's Family Pay for:

Engagement Notice & Party
All reception costs including room hire, food and beverages
Bridesmaids bouquets and ceremony flowers
Decorations for reception
Musicians for both ceremony & reception
Grooms ring & gift
Photography
stationery
Brides wedding attire
Transport & parking expenses for ceremony & reception

I think the grooms transport costs relate to the honeymoon?

Yep I am sure it's alcohol and if American the rehersal dinner. Also the groom pays for the honeymoon.

But honestly who really sticks to tradition anymore?

My Mood:
this is how we've divided it:

parents (combined) are paying for : dj and reception
fh and i are paying for: my dress, his suit, our rings, the honeymoon
between all of us we are paying for: bridal and groom attendant presents, flowers, invitations and other stationary, photographer and transport - also may be splitting favours also depends on how much money we have left to play with.

We are paying for the whole kit and caboodle.... actually FMIL is buying grooms shirt & tie - we are paying the rest...and then some!

He gave his Dad a brand new suit he's never worn (which he looks spunky in) and FMIL wants to thank him in return

My Mood:
My MIL insisted on paying for the alcohol, flowers and cake. this was great except the cake turned into a nightmare. As she was paying she arranged for something other than what we wanted and involved a lot of heated phone calls

in the end the cake wasn't what we wanted at all (including design and flavours). So while i am thankfull they wanted to contribute i would have been happier being out of pocket and having what i wanted.
