We have had a few new members that have come here not knowing where to start in the wedding planning process.

I would love to hear all of your ideas, thoughts and advice when it comes to planning a wedding. Where to start, what order you think things need to be done in and how far in advance etc. Also a list of every little thing that needs to be done/purchased.

I am going to put a guide together for new members who feel they need some help or direction

the first and most important thing that i've learnt. if you find somewhere you love for your reception.... book it then!! we lost our date because we procrastinated... i was so totally upset... we had to bring the date forward two weeks if we wanted that place and we soo did.

Hmm. Well I spose I'll start! I feel so lost when it comes to wedding planning - I honestly dont get how people just "know" what to do!! But for a wedding losty, I feel like I'm doing pretty well... We have 6 months till the wedding and so far I have:
-Asked my BM's & GM
-Chosen my theme
-Booked my venue
-Booked my photographer
-Booked my celebrant
-Found and paid for my wedding dress
-Picked our wedding rings (but yet to purchase)
-Had a meeting with our decorations place (but are yet to receive a quote)

Today we have meetings with Faye Cahill (cake) and Effi Georgia (invites) and tomorrow we have a meeting with Best Buds (flowers)

I feel like I'm getting thins going, but after this I think i will be lost!! The advice and help I have received from this site has been a life saver and I could always use more!! Wedding planning is a crazy thing!!

When we booked our photographer, he gave us a very good piece of advice. Make sure you book the reception, ceremony and photographer/videographer ASAP, cos they are the ones you need in order to get the date you want. From there, the smaller things that require to know your date, like the florist, baker, dress etc, should be easier to get.
