You asked for it! My novel :)

The day before the wedding I said goodbye to my then FH and headed over to check into a suite at Joondalup Resort. All my bridesmaids and my mum came over in the afternoon until about 10pm and we had a great girly arvo/night- did everyone’s nails and listened to girly music etc.

I got a surprisingly good night’s sleep (although I missed FH a LOT and found it difficult to fall asleep without him), and got up at about 7.30 the morning of. All the girls came to the suite with me to get ready (there was HEAPS of room, it was really gorgeous). We had subway wrap platters which the manager personally rostered himself on for the day and hand delivered to us so we wouldn’t have to pick them up! So sweet! It was nice light food and enough to keep us going the rest of the day.

About 11am our hair and makeup ladies arrived from Total Brides, they did an amazing job and were great fun, we were all very relaxed and having fun getting ready. At 12 our florist Wendy from Stemstational at Kardinya arrived with the flowers- they were just so so perfect, I couldn’t have been happier with them.

At 2pm our photographer Sue from JSC arrived and took a few shots of everyone putting on the final touches. Sue is AMAZING and was like a wedding co-ordinator, she had a great kit with her and helped mum fix her shoe which suddenly snapped and helped getting my dress sitting right.

We had some photos around the resort and then got into the limo to head over to Bridgeleigh (I had a limo with all my bridesmaids and my flowergirl). We met my Dad at Bridgeleigh as he had wanted to be there to greet the guests. Then we all lined up and it was go time!

I got some butterflies when we first got into the limo and when we made the turn into the street of the reception place, but by the time we lined up I was pretty calm.

The only hiccup on the way into the ceremony was that there was a fairly big gap/hole between the paving we stepped off into and the carpet on the grass, and all of us nearly fell in it! Nobody did actually fall though and I don’t think anybody noticed as we weren’t really in view at that stage.

It was very hot in the sun and quite glary, so it was hard to look up at the guests. FH gave me the wrong hand and had to swap, and then his ring wouldn’t go on all the way as it was so hot, which got a bit of a giggle. The wording all went very smoothly and my second youngest sister did so well in her reading, I was so proud of her. We had both mums sign the registry as a surprise, and they got a kick out of that.

Congratulations and photos went by so quickly, and before we knew it we were being introduced into the reception as husband and wife!

The reception looked great, I was so happy with everything. Our DJ did a great job, speeches were fantastic, I was so proud of DH as he is not a public speaker at all and he had everyone in tears, so many people said it was the best speech they had ever heard. The food and service at Bridgeleigh were just fantastic.

We spent a lot of time making our way around the tables saying hello to everyone, and dancing. When it was time for us to leave we did a farewell circle and then an arch- I definitely recommend doing the circle, it takes the pressure off during the night as you know you will get to personally see everyone and thank them for coming.

As everyone says, the whole day and night just go so quickly, DH and I stole a few moments together where we could to just drink it all in.

Then we drove to our suite again, I had put all rose petals and stuff around, it looked great and DH loved it. We stayed for an extra night afterwards so we had a couple of great relaxing days together before heading home to pack for the honeymoon.

After a day of packing everything up, we flew to Sydney and spent 2 days there before boarding our cruise. The cruise went to Melbourne, Hobart, and then all around New Zealand. We spent another 4 days in New Zealand driving around the countryside and looking at thermal areas, lakes and caves. It was just spectacular.

Now we are back and this afternoon I am straight into a 7 hour block of lectures on Business Associations Law and the Law of Secured Transactions-----I have no idea how I am going to stay awake!!
