Do It Yourself Pedicure
No need to spend a fortune at a beauty spa! Here are easy steps to do your own pedicure at home and still achieve professional results.
What you will need:
- Nail polish remover
- Cotton balls
- Nail file/emery board
- Nail clippers
- Toe separators
- Nail polish
- Base coat
- Top coat
- Paper towels
- A water bath
- Peppermint oil
- Body Scrub
- Moisturiser
Step one:
Apply nail polish remover to a cotton ball with and remove nail polish from each of your toenails. You many need to use a few cotton balls. Be sure to remove all nail polish right to the edges.
Never soak the nails in nail polish remover as this can dry and crack your nails and damage your cuticles.
Step two:
Fill a small bath/buck with warm water and add a few drops of peppermint oil. Submerge your feet and soak them for 5 minutes. Using a pumice stone, rub the rough surfaces of your feet to remove hard skin.
Step three:
Using the nail clippers, trim your nails to the desired length. Toenails look better when trimmed straight across. Ensure you do not trim them too short as this can cause ingrown toenails.
Step four:
Using a nail file or emery board file the nails into shape using the course side of the board. Follow up using the fine side of the board to smooth the edges.
Step five:
Using clean warm water in the bath or bucket exfoliate your feet. Scrub both the top and bottom of your feet and continue to your ankles. Be sure not to over exfoliate. A 3 minute exfoliation is all you need. Rinse your feet with fresh warm water and apply moisturiser.
Step six:
Use nail polish remover to remove any excess moisturiser from the nail beds. Place toe separators between your toes. Using the base coat polish apply a thin layer to each nail bed and allow to dry. Once dry apply 2 thin coats of nail polish in your chosen colour allow each coat to dry before applying the next. Once nails are dry apply a thin layer of top coat polish. Allow to dry for 30 minutes before walking.
Now you have salon perfect feet!
